Sermon Sunday - Praise Him in our Trials

Happy Lord's Day. Church was good as usual. Our pastor talked about praising God through your trials. Job, Habakkuk, John, Paul and Silas did it when they went through their trials. When we don't feel like praising Him still praise Him. He is faithful and true to meet our needs.

How was the sermon at your Church? If you got a good message share it with us. Just click on the comments link to post it.

The message for us today was about prayer. Pastor Richardson reminded us of several important key points about prayer. He used Elijah as an example to illustrate some of these, saying that there was never any doubt about what Elijah was asking for and used the examples of when Elijah prayed down rain when the land was parched with absolutely no uncertainty and very definitively. We were also reminded that we must be watchful when we do pray, and that we should be persistant in our prayer. He also reminded us that God does indeed answer our prayer as proved by Peter, Elijah and on Pentecost Sunday! He referred to Galatians 3:2, and 1 James:18 as well.

Dawn, THANK YOU for sharing your Sunday Sermon. It is such a blessing to us and so many others. This goes in line with what the Lord is taking us through during this season in our lives. `Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.` Romans 12:12

Our pastor shared a message on the spiritual warfare that we WILL face when we do the work of the Lord and choose to be obedient. He spoke from the book of Acts, where Paul was witnessing to Sergius, the proconsul and how the sorcerer tried to stop the work of God. Paul rebuked him with all boldness and continued to proclaim the Gospel message. I am reminded that in this world we will have trouble as our Lord and Saviour assured us, but we can take heart because he overcame the world and so will we. "Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world".

Dear B.G.O.ers:
I may seem to have been remiss about posting in the last weeks, but I know I did few days ago, but I can't find it.I commented on something I'd read on the site, but I can't remember what it was exactly, when, or what I said exactly,I just remember feeling strongly almost overwhelmed by the idea that "God IS love", so I reflected on that idea somewhat. Today as I was about to post about the sermon we got today, I found the bulletin from last week's sermon as well, so hopefully my good intentions aren't going to land me on a road to somewhere I don't want to go!Now that I've wasted this time "blabbing", I'll try to be brief as I share both messages. In the one on January 18th, he very clearly made the point that we should love others as much as we possibly can, and that the way up is the way down.We should therefore willingly "take up the towel" to serve others, as Jesus did. He cited Philemon 2:3 "... consider others better than yourselves", and Philemon 2:5-7.
The first thing we should consider is whose need are we going to try to meet and how? Next we have to remember that every person has value, and that we all have a part to play in meeting their need(s)Finally, we ought to always be happy when others succeed, because we are like a team or a body.

Today the theme was "Greet Eachother", and he read from Romans 16:16, and Cor.16:20, to show how Jesus did. He gave three reasons why we should greet one another with genuine happiness and concern:
1) Because it's good for you.
2) For their sake.
3) For Jesus's sake.

That's it for now. I pray that although I didn't express these ideas as well as Reverand Lott did, that you will be blessed by these thoughts anyways.
