Talk Tuesday - GROW - Prayer

Once you have received Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, there are 5 things to do in order to GROW.

1. Prayer
2. Bible Study
3. Fellowship
4. Worship
5. Ministry

(These points were adapted from http://www.wcg.org/lit/church/pamphlet/growing.htm)

God wants a relationship with you, so you need to take time to talk to Him. Prayer is talking with God. The same way you would talk to a friend. If you been a Christian a while, how has your prayer life changed? Do you pray more often or less? How has your prayer life changed your relationship with God? Share your experience with us so that other people can learn how to pray. You never know who you will bless.

Prayer is so important to me. When I pray I feel a connection with God. I have been a Christian for about 10 years. When I was first saved I would pray mostly for me. God give me this, heal me, help me. Now I try to worship Him in my prayers.

This year I found that I was neglecting God. I got so busy, I was praying less each day. I was challenged by someone and I am now spending more time with Him.

I don't know if I'm doing it 'right' - or if there is a right way to pray. I do know that I now don't make any decisions without 1st taking it to God. I start my day and end my day in prayer, and I love the Lord above all else.

What has changed in my walk has been my desire to read scripture. It seems to be up and down - sometimes I am craving it - like now - and often times it falls by the way side.

As a child I was thought 'prayer is the lifting up of the mind and heart to God.' However sometimes I find the many distractions of everyday life creeping into my thoughts during my prayer time. I have to actively shut them out and consciously move back into the mode of prayer. But God is awesome for in the midst of this struggle, He allows me to come back into communication with Him and He hears my hearts cries and there are so many cries of my heart.
Like anonymous no. 1, my prayers go beyond myself and family to others as far and wide as I feel led to pray.
Thank you for Biblegrouponline. May God bless you and may everythingin your hearts as they line up with God's will for your lives be granted. Keep on striving in Jesus' name

A few months ago, my daughter gave me a book called MOM,WOW. I have only recently started to read the exhortations in this book, then pray and write as the Holy Spirit leads me.
It is really a blessing that as I read, I automatically fall into prayer and as a mom it is truely awesome how the Lord would give me a Word of faith, comfort, peace and hope for my offsprings. Each time I go to this gift/book, just to read, I find that there is always a Scripture which resonates in my heart and spirit, therefore giving me a sense of the ufailing love of God for my children - that God is in charge of every minute detail in their lives and He continues to watch over them.
I share this to trumpet a truth about prayer - 'when the Word tells us to pray unceasingly, we must be driven to comply for there are always benefits to unceasing prayer. You see, I never expected that whenever I picked up this book, I would be so ushered into sweet and holy prayer.
So many of us Christians limit our prayer to specific times but we have to come to a place where whatever we do, prayer must take precedence. If we read a book, take a walk, visit the malls, etc. prayer must be a part of that experience and we would find God communcint with us in such significant ways.
God bless.
