Talk Tuesday-The Battlefield...Is It the Mind? Part II

Have you ever struggled with persistent, negative thoughts that weary you?

Have you ever heard, "you're a failure", "you'll never amount to anything", "no one will love you", "you are so wicked that your sins will follow you all the days of your life", "not even God can forgive you", "what's the point of even trying, it won't make a difference anyways", "you'll always be alone"?

They can begin as fleeting thoughts, passing through your mind amidst a myriad of situations. Yet they are often like the tiny snowball that becomes bigger and bigger as it rolls downhill. Before you know, it becomes an impassable mound of snow obscuring your vision ahead, so that the only way you can look is backwards.

There is a reality that we need to remember as Christians. It is that although we do have an Enemy we have a SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST, who is greater! Jesus warns us,

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

There is power in the WORD of God.

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

Each time we experience a negative thought, we need to claim who we are in CHRIST. "For ashe thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV). We need to apply the WORD OF TRUTH against the words of lies in our mind.

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them 'because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.' " 1 John 4:4

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Romans 8:1

"But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John1:7

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9

How has the Word of God set your mind free in the midst of the storms of fear, doubt, shame and guilt? What do you do when you the battle in your mind begins to rage on? Please share with us by clicking on the comments link below. It is a blessing to us all as we engage in meaningful dialogue.

Stay tuned for the final part on this series. We will be discussing Spiritual Warfare.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12

One thing I have learned (and have to keep learning again when I forget), is to declare specific words of God that pertain to the fear or the worry that is consistenly and persistently coming to mind. It tears down an unseen weight or hindrance whenever we meditate on God's words, versus our thoughts or Satan's seeds, and it's even better when we take the time to declare God's word about that situation out loud.

It also helps tremendously to stay connected with other strong believers, and to keep listening to other sisters and brothers who are also persevering in this battle ... it helps us to realign our thinking, such as Blair did with her poem! Our flesh needs to be constantly reminded to bow to the Spirit and what He says about every situation. We also should pray for all of us in the body of Christ that the mind of Christ will always triumph in us. That we will be overcomers of every one of the devil's schemes.

This week's video and message is a reminder to me to moment by moment humble myself before God, remembering that if not for His mercy, I would perish. I was not saved on my own, and I can't be sanctified on my own either!

God bless you all.
