Talk Tuesday-What's So Merry About Christmas? Pt. II

Last week we read about Jesus Christ, the Incarnate One, 'Immanuel' who is 'God with us.' The Bible tells us that while the shepherds kept watch over their flocks, an angel of the LORD announced, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord,” Luke 2:10-11. The birth of JESUS heralded good news and glad tidings for all mankind. It meant that the bondage of sin would be broken, freeing us from its power and its penalty, restoring us to right relation with God, bringing salvation to all who would believe.

JESUS came for our redemption: “11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” Titus 2:11-14

JESUS came to give His life as a ransom for ours: “5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6

JESUS came to justify us: “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Romans 4:25

JESUS came to reconcile us to God: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” Romans 5:8-10

JESUS came for our salvation: “12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Receive the best gift Christmas has to offer and you will never be the same! "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord," Romans 6:23.

What's so Merry about Christmas? It's the PEACE, JOY, HOPE and LOVE that JESUS brings to one and all! We at BGO would like to wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
