Talk Tuesday-Happy New Year!!! Watch and Pray, Trust and Obey

We, at BGO, would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Blessed and Holy New Year in the Lord Jesus Christ! As we enter 2015 and reflect on 2014, let us encourage one another to WATCH and PRAY, TRUST and OBEY.

Jesus exhorts us to, “...keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come,” Matthew 24:42; “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him,” Matthew 24:44.

Scripture tells us to, “pray without ceasing,” 1 Thessalonians 5:17, to “devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful,” Colossians 4:2, knowing that, “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth,” Psalm 145:18.

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” God has a specific purpose for your life! “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11.

Obedience will allow us to walk confidently in those plans. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves,” James 1:22; “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,” Ephesians 5:15. “13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it,” Matthew 7:13-14.

Lastly, watchfulness, prayer, trust and obedience are all bound by faith in Jesus Christ, who is “the author and finisher of our faith,” Hebrews 12:2. If you don't know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, it is not too late! “'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved,” Romans 10:8-10.

Happy New Year!!!
