Talk Tuesday-What Will Be Written About Us?

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

Are you feeling weary and discouraged? You KNOW that God has made you a promise, yet you find yourself still straining ahead to catch just a glimpse of your future blessing? The Apostle Paul makes a very bold statement, "For we walk by faith, not by sight," 2 Corinthians 5:7. Ours is a journey of faith and in this culture of instant gratification, that is not an easy thing. The Potter has great plans for the clay. God molds and shapes us into vessels of honour for the fulfillment of His Kingdom purposes. The question is, 'Do we TRUST Him?'

Hebrews Chapter 11 tells us about the faith of the patriarchs. Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by faith in knowing that God was who He said He was. Enoch did not die but was taken up to heaven by faith in pleasing God during His life. Noah built the ark by faith in God who warned him of the coming flood. Abraham obeyed God in faith knowing that God would do as He promised. "By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches that the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward," Hebrews 11: 24-26.

What will be written about us? Let us encourage one another to persevere BY FAITH.

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2

Thanks for another great post. I think I will be remembered for thinking and talking about God often. But unfortunately, I will also be remembered (at this point I feel) for a lot of unbelieving words and complaining! I think (whether I'm right or not) that my words and my thoughts are mixed with faith and unbelief. But I want to get to the next level ... to have a maturity that reflects single-minded I want to be remembered for steadfast faith ... faith like heroes such as David when he faced Goliath as a young boy (1 Samuel 17), and Joshua and Caleb when they first saw the promised land and were not at all afraid (Numbers 14), and Joshua when he began to lead the people after Moses passed away and, his final declaration that he and his house would NOT be double minded and would serve the Lord (Joshua 24). There are many other inspiring examples, but such accounts as these are what I would like to be true of me when I'm gone. May God help us to have and reflect the mind of Christ so that we can leave such a testimony behind!

God bless you for your faithfulness with BGO,

There is a song called, "If I Could Help Somebody As I Pass Along, Then My Living Shall Not Be In Vain." That is what I want said of me when I am gone. You see, I believe when one can give and reach out in unconditional LOVE - that is the hallmark of seeking to emulate Christ. We live in a fallen world, and the tentacles of evil strive relentlessly to grab at us, in the workplace, the community, the home and in the church among may I be remembered for "helping somebody - anybody, in Christ-centered, love as Holy Spirit would lead me. May I decrease and Christ increase in me. Thanks for such an inspiring post. May God cause you and your husband's cup of blessings to be filled, pressed down, shaken together and running over, in Jesus' name.

Thank you for this word. It came to me at just the right time. Last night God spoke to me through these very words; just when I was feeling discouraged. And today, once again He speaks to me through these words.

God is so truly faithful, always anchoring us in His truth especially during the times of the storm. Andrew and I praise and thank Jesus for His merciful love that surrounds our BGO community. May we continue to grow in the saving knowledge of our Mighty God and Saviour!

Love this post.

Here is one of my favourite pertinent quotes about what really matters to me about what will be written...
“We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.” ― Mother Teresa
