Talk Tuesday- The Truths That Bind

Today's post was initially going to be on another topic. After listening to some devastating news someone very special to us received, I decided to write about the Truths That Bind. Many of us now find ourselves in places we had never before imagined- places of pain, confusion and insecurity. Let us fix our eyes on Christ, looking upward as pilgrims who are citizens of heaven, holding on to the truths that bind us closer to GOD. May the Holy Spirit cause the Word to anchor you, so that you hold firmly to Jesus.

"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 3:2-3

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom." Colossians 3:16

God is a refuge in the time of need:
"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble." Psalm 9:9

He has given us salvation through His Son Jesus Christ:
"...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

He does not condemn the repentant sinner:
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:10

He provides a way out in the midst of temptation:
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End:
“ 'I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,' says the Lord, 'who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.' " Revelations 1:8

He is the One who has set eternity in the hearts of men:
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11

He is able to keep you from falling:
"To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." Jude 1:24-25

He is faithful to continue the work He has begun in you:
"... being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6

Cry out to Him, as a child would for its father:
"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." Romans 8:15

And trust Him at all times because this trust brings peace:
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3

Our pain has a purpose and He redeems our suffering.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Remember always, He makes all things new!
"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful." Revelations 21:5

Thanks Natasha for such a wonderfully organized and enouraging reminder! I'm just reading today which is Sunday the 21st, and as usual God's timing is almost? unbelievably.

In our service today, Pastor Lott also reminded us of some points that blessed us incredibly. The subject of his message was the Holy Spirit, he askede us to imagine how the disciples must have felt after learning what the great the great commission was for them, and how anxious they must have been to get started on their mission, but thas Jesus told them that they had to wait before leaving Jerusalem! Pastor Lott went on to comment on how difficult this must have been because they had no idea as to what they were waiting for, why or for how long.He also pointed out how in the days of the Old Testament. the Spirit had made limited appearances, and because He hadn't appeared for a long time, they probably were wondering if they'd been abandoned or left by the Spirit. In the New Testament these thoughts and possible fears were completely disproved when Jesus, the Spirit bearer came! Throughout time the Spirit has appeared in many forms and to a variety of different people, and to "walk in the Spirit", as the Bible commands us to do we must learn to submit and follow its lead!
